Support Celeste’s Kidney Cancer Surgery

My name is Celeste, and I’m reaching out for help after receiving a life-changing diagnosis. What started as a visit to St Joseph’s ER for stomach pain led to a series of tests, and during a CAT scan, doctors discovered a mass in my kidney. The news was unexpected and overwhelming, and after further appointments at the St Joseph’s cancer center, it was confirmed to be cancer. Thankfully, the mass was found early enough that surgery is still an option, and it hasn’t spread to other parts of my body. I’m grateful for this chance, but the reality of facing cancer and surgery is daunting, especially as a parent.

The hardest part of this journey has been thinking about my 9-year-old daughter, Melina. She is my world, and the thought of not being there for her is almost too much to bear. I’m determined to fight for my health and for her future. I’ll be undergoing surgery to remove the mass, but I’ve also learned that I’ll need clearance from a cardiologist before the procedure can be scheduled. While I’m hopeful, there are risks involved, and I want to make sure Melina is cared for no matter what happens.

I’m asking for help to cover the cost of my surgery and the recovery period, as I’ll be out of work for at least a month without paid leave.
