Support Celeste’s Gender-Affirming Surgery Recovery Fund
Donation protected
This Wednesday, July 2nd, after months of waiting and years of HRT, I will finally be getting an orchiectomy. This will permanently suppress my testosterone and allow me to feel more comfortable in my body, as well as allow me to wear more gender-affirming clothes more comfortably (and safely) in public.
Thankfully, the operation itself is covered under Medicaid. However, it’s no secret that trans rights are being rolled back in this country at an alarming pace, and Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” (barf), expected to pass the Senate any day now, explicitly cuts any transgender healthcare from Medicaid funding. Unfortunately, while the surgery is covered under my insurance, the lost work from my recovery period (up to a full month) is not. I can’t afford to take a month off work right now, but due to the state of politics in this country, I can’t afford to wait either.
That’s where you come in. I am asking for support to get my bills covered for the month. The initial recovery period where I will be essentially homebound is a week, but for up to 3 weeks after, I cannot safely lift anything heavier than a jug of (soy) milk. Needless to say, this is fairly incompatible with working in a kitchen. My goal will allow me to pay my rent, utilities, cat costs, and other bills. It will also allow for an increase in food delivery costs, which I will certainly need to utilize much more than usual this month.
I will leave on donations for the month even if the goal is reached: the rest will help me find my footing after moving and recent pet emergencies wiped out my checking account, as well as get more laser hair removal, as well as help me make a dent in my debt. Thank you for reading, and thank you so much for your support <3
