Support Cedar's Journey to Permanent Housing

Hi my name is Cedar. I will be turning 30 in May and am hoping to start off my 30s in a new home for me and my cat Esther.

I currently live in Supportive Housing. I was recently awarded a housing 8 voucher!! I feel so blessed to have this opportunity to find a new home with more permanence and independence. But unfortunately I am behind on rent. I need to resolve this in order to use my voucher to move out of this temporary housing. I am in need of $425 in order to resolve rent, $50 for immediate use to cover groceries and medications, and all other funds would go towards application fees for apartments and first months rent.

I am disabled and rely on state cash benefits to make it through. I'm working with a disability lawyer to get SSI so I can maintain my living space and health after many years being in and out of intensive treatment and managing housing crises.

1 year ago after months of homelessness I was gifted the blessing of supportive housing. I have managed to stay where I've been living over a year and they helped me get Section 8 housing. Though I only have about another month to get it all sorted and move in to my new place or I lose section 8. I was extremely lucky to get the voucher as many people are on waitlists for it for 8 years or sometimes even longer. So I really want to be able to take this gift as it comes and not let is pass me by.
