Cedar Cliff Youth Baseball's Field & Equipment Upgrades

Investing in Our Future:
Baseball is more than just a sport; it is a cornerstone of community engagement, youth development, and lifelong friendships. For many children, it represents their first introduction to teamwork, discipline, and the joy of competition. Since 1952, Cedar Cliff Youth Baseball Association (CCYBA) (re: Lower Allen Baseball) has done just that. However, the success and sustainability of our organization depends heavily on adequate resources, quality equipment, and well-maintained fields. We’re currently facing a challenge: the need to raise funds to offset the purchase of new equipment and field improvements.
The Problem:
Our playing fields are in dire need of improvement. A well-maintained field is crucial not only for player safety but also for the overall experience of players and fans alike. Currently, our fields suffer from uneven surfaces, inadequate drainage, and years of compacted soil. Improving our fields requires us to invest in proper maintenance year-round. This means more than volunteer hours. Quality equipment is essential for our league to continue to mold young children into future athletes. Unfortunately, our current equipment is not capable of doing the work that is required to rehabilitate our field conditions. Investing in new equipment is not merely a matter of aesthetics; it’s a necessity that will directly improve the quality of play, and improve the availability of quality fields for our children.
The Solution:
After a year of shopping around many options, and with the help of a local company, we were able to locate a state of the art infield groomer, which was custom built specifically to perform many field maintenance functions simultaneously (deep dragging, spinning dirt clumps, rolling, brush finishing). Simply put, this equipment does everything we need to properly maintain our infields. However, in pursuit of an infield groomer that performs at this level, it became apparent that our current vehicle does not have the towing power to pull this equipment. Therefore, we found ourselves in the need for an upgraded utility vehicle. Together, the cost of both pieces of equipment will cost CCYBA approximately $25,000.
The Community’s Role:
Sponsorship, registration, sweepstakes, and concessions are the only ways we raise funds to invest back into the league. Increased sponsorship and concession donations have continued to allow us to keep our fees to families consistent. CCYBA is hopeful to continue to keep our registration costs low and to do so, we are calling on our CCYBA community of local businesses, families, and friends to help us.
Further, CCYBA has entered the local Home Field Makeover sponsored by the Harrisburg Senators. Although a winning Home Field Makeover application is not a guarantee, we are doing as much as we can to help improve our fields over the fall and winter periods to be ready for the spring season.
A Vision for the Future:
With CCYBA seeing growth every year over the last 5 years, the need for new equipment and improved fields is not just an immediate concern; it is an investment in the future of our community. By enhancing the resources available to our organization, we are fostering a new generation of athletes who will carry the values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship into their adult lives. Furthermore, we are creating a community space that brings families together, strengthens bonds, and cultivates a sense of pride.
With your support, we will continue to invest in our league, ensuring that every child can play in a safe, supportive environment. Together, we can make improvements that will benefit our youth today and for many years to come. Thank you for your time and consideration in donating to our fundraiser.
