Cecilia (16) and Hailey (14) are two bright, loving girls who find themselves in an unstable and heartbreaking position. The girls had to flee their home during a recent mental health crisis in the family. Hailey and Cecilia currently find themselves without parental support. Their parents are unable to provide safe and stable housing, mental health resources, and financial support for basic goods. The process of getting the girls to safety has put financial strain on the family. They are now in the care of their grandparents, Jeff and Cindy (Cheryl), who are ensuring they stay safe and can attend school while they find longer term stability and direction. They are pursuing temporary custody, but may have to hire an attorney to help them get permanent legal guardianship. The girls experience continuing stress and are slowly recovering from this traumatic situation, but they still need as much help as possible. It is vital to do everything in our power to provide the girls with access to therapy and healthcare, and get them emotional and material support to help them get through this time of crisis. Both girls are great students, with goals and dreams they are working hard to achieve. Hailey is at a critical age of transition and needs structure and nurturing to thrive as a teenager. Cecilia is a strong young woman who wants to be independent and continue to pursue everything she has worked so hard to build for herself. Despite their incredible determination and perseverance, they are still just children. As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child. While Cecilia and Hailey’s grandparents have stepped in to support them, they still need help with unexpected expenses and legal fees. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help create a foundation of safety and hope for two children who deserve peace, protection, and the chance to be themselves again.
