Support Kaikoura NZ

My name is Alexis Draut and I am an American college student raising money for a town I studied abroad in along with another college student, Olivia Ruck. We both studied in Kaikoura, NZ through Creation Care Study Program and got very attached to the town, and specifically, the people there. Unfortunately, Kaikoura has recently been a victim of a 7.8 earthquake with multiple aftershocks. American students studying abroad there at the Creation Care Study Program have suffered. Their home, the Old Convent, has been severely damaged. And so has the rest of the town. The community is lacking in basic needs: food, water, power, and shelter. We are CCSP alum raising money to support the community of Kaikoura that has given so much back to us. It's time to give back. They need support, prayers, and financial resources.

The money will be transferred to a private US bank account under the name of Catherine Patterson, who is a US citizen currently living in Kaikoura. From there, the money will be monitored and distributed through the decisions made by a group of Kaikoura community leaders (including Catherine Patterson, Lisa Bond, and Courtnay Wilson), who will then distribute it seeing the most pressing needs in the community hit by this disaster. This may include getting running water, home reconstruction, attaining food supplies or covering any number of the bills that have amounted as a result of this crisis.
