My name is Amy Edwards and I’m asking for your donations to help my niece, Cayla Grandt, with medical expenses. Cayla had a pneumothorax (collapsed lung - air leak) which then turned into a hydropneumothorax (air and fluid in the pleural cavity). She had multiple surgeries due to improper tube placement, with the last one resulting in a thoracotomy where they discovered a severe staph infection in her lung and had to insert two chest tubes. While Cayla is enrolled in FMLA (Family Medical Leave), it only guarantees her return to work, so she is not getting paid. She has already been off work for 3 weeks and cannot return for another 3 weeks. She does have medical insurance, but your donations will be used for co-pays, fees not covered by insurance, and to cover various other bills incurred while missing all those paychecks.

Cayla works for Community Link - an organization that provides opportunities and housing for individuals with developmental disabilities. She loves her job and takes any overtime she can get to devote time to those in her care.

When not at work, Cayla spends time with her two boys (twins) and her family.
