Support Cayla’s Recovery After Accident

We are absolutely gutted to inform everyone that Cayla was hit head on by a drunk driver on her way home from work Friday night. She was transported to the Colleton Emergency Hospital, and then to Trident Trauma Center for further treatment.

First things first: we are so grateful that Cayla is alive and kicking (fwiw her doctors have asked her to stop with the kicking) following this heinous and preventable tragedy. Luckily for the human race, Cayla isn’t made of mere skin a bone, and even sitting in the trauma center at 2am, she was still cracking jokes and stressing about upcoming HoB festivities. Having her Dave by her side, as well as big sis Corndog, she showed off her toughness and resolve throughout her ordeal.

Cayla has been the heart and soul of House of Brews for over eight years, recently becoming a partner thanks to her dedication and hard work. She’s the person who keeps everything running smoothly—organizing events, scheduling food trucks, and making sure the shelves are always stocked with the best craft beers. Her passion and commitment have made her a beloved figure among regulars and staff alike.

This collision has caused her to suffer a severely broken ankle, multiple fractures in her jaw, deep cuts to her tongue and face, and missing teeth, just to mention some of the physical trauma she experienced. The accident has left her unable to work for the foreseeable future, and she faces a long road to recovery with multiple surgeries ahead. On top of her medical challenges, her car was totaled, adding another layer of stress to an already overwhelming situation. The drunk driver that hit her head on, in her lane, of course does not have a license, insurance, and was drunk enough to claim he wasn’t at fault, despite pictures/witnesses/common sense all stacked against him. As such, there will be a legal cost she will have to bear.

These funds raised will help Cayla cover urgent medical bills, living expenses, legal fees, and lost income while she heals. She’ll also need support to replace her car once she’s able to drive again. Cayla has always been there for her community—now it’s our turn to rally around her and help her get back on her feet and being the mainstay rock at HoB.
