Support Cayden George's Recovery from Sepsis
Donation protected
On Sunday, September 1st, Cayden started to run a fever. By the next day (Labor Day), he was still running the fever and in enough pain in his left leg that Carly and Gary took him to the Samaritan ED. At the ED, they ran tests and reached out to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital to consult the pediatric providers. He was sent from the Samaritan ED to RBC ED in Cleveland, where he was seen by the pediatric team and ortho specialist. More labs were drawn, imaging was obtained, and antibiotics were started. Throughout the course of that day, Cayden's pain was worsening, and over the course of the next few days, it would get much worse.
After being admitted to Rainbow, a bloodstream and bone infection were confirmed, and he was officially diagnosed with Sepsis. By Wednesday, the infection had progressed to the point that he was in excruciating and uncontrolled pain, and it was decided that he would need to go to surgery to drain his knee.
The surgery went well, and from that point on, things have been slowly looking up. The scariest part of the hospitalization now seems to be behind him, but as time has progressed, so have the mounting medical bills. Carly and Gary are driving back and forth to Ashland to care for and support their other child, Gary, as much as possible, and they are having to eat out all meals. Gary hasn't been able to work, as he's been by Cayden's bedside since admission, and Carly has only been able to intermittently work.
I am asking for any donation to help the George's with this unexpected financial burden. We are also asking for prayers for healing and reduction of anxiety for Cayden.
