Hello! My name is Catie Constas (they/them), and I am a nonbinary artist living and working in the Boston area.

This coming January 22nd, I am fortunate to be receiving a gender-affirming double mastectomy (top surgery) as a crucial step in my journey as a nonbinary trans person.

This procedure will allow me to fully feel comfortable in my body and gender identity, and combat the significant dysphoria I have felt surrounding my chest area since adolescence.

During this exciting time, I am reaching out to my community to ask for financial and emotional support.

While a large percentage of this procedure will be covered by insurance, the out of pocket costs and time needed for recovery away from my work as a children’s art educator will put significant strain on mine and my wife’s finances. Contributions from those able will go towards paying for the surgery itself, and costs like recovering rent funds lost due to unpaid time off, meals and other recovery items.

In addition to financial support, words of encouragement, advice from trans friends, and love are all welcomed over these next few months too! This is a very vulnerable time for me and many other trans individuals, but I am feeling especially blessed by my friends, family, community to be able to ask for help.
