Our beloved Cathy Sutherland – devoted wife, loving mother, inspiring gymnastics coach, and talented circus performer – recently suffered a severe hemorrhagic stroke while visiting New Orleans with some of her favorite people. In an instant the world seemed to turn upside down, and now her loved ones are reaching out to her wider community asking for support as they navigate the unimaginable.
Cathy is currently under the care of a specialized stroke center, where she is receiving the critical support she needs. While she is in the best possible hands, the road ahead is long and filled with uncertainty.
If you’ve ever met Cathy, then you know she is the kind of person who instantly lights up every space she enters. Her energy and wit are infectious, and whether she’s coaching young gymnasts, performing, or caring for her family, she gives her whole heart to others. Her community is vast, and the love for her runs deep.
At this time, Cathy will remain hospitalized for at least a month as doctors continue to monitor her condition and determine the next steps in her care. After that, she is expected to transition to an intensive rehabilitation facility, where her recovery journey will most likely continue for many months to come.
Her loved ones are by her side day and night, waiting for updates and holding onto hope as they navigate one day at a time.
How Your Support Will Help
We are raising funds to help ease the immense financial burden on Cathy’s family during this time. Contributions will go toward:
- Housing and feeding her loved ones so they can remain close by her side
- Flights for additional family and close friends to come and offer more help & support
- Offsetting loss of income during this extended and uncertain recovery period
The financial support generated by this GoFundMe will allow Cathy’s family to focus fully on her healing, without the added burden of financial strain.
If you are able to give, any amount – no matter how small – will make a meaningful difference. If donating isn’t possible, Cathy’s family would be deeply grateful if you shared this page with others to increase its visibility.
Please keep Cathy in your hearts as we await more information from her medical team. We will continue to share updates as we learn more about what the coming days, weeks, and months will look like. Thank you for your love, support, and generosity during this incredibly difficult time, and for loving Cathy as much as we do.
