Hi, my name is Katie, and I’m raising funds to help care for my mom, Cathy, who is bravely living with ALS. Watching her go from climbing mountains to needing round-the-clock care has been heartbreaking. She is the strongest person I have ever known, and this disease has taken so much from her - her mobility, her independence, and the ability to do even the simplest tasks. We’ve been accepted into the only local long-term care facility that can meet her needs, but while we wait for a space to open, we have to continue her in-home nursing care. Our savings and grant funds are gone, and we’re struggling to keep up with the cost of the care she desperately needs.

Cathy is the heart of our family and our community. She’s a proud mom to three daughters, a grandmother to seven, and a great-grandmother to one. Before ALS, she poured her energy into helping others. She is a retired school nurse and community activist. Her strength, humor, and compassion have touched so many lives, and now we’re doing everything we can to give that same love and care back to her.

We’re hoping to raise $6,000 to cover the cost of Cathy’s in-home nursing care while we wait for a room to open at the long-term care facility. Her care costs about $900 per week, and these funds will go directly toward paying our caregiver and ensuring she continues to receive the medical support and attention she needs to stay safe and comfortable at home. If a spot opens up before the donations run out, any remaining funds will be used to provide Cathy with the items and comforts she’ll need once she moves into long-term care. Every donation, no matter the amount, helps us bridge the gap until more grant funding becomes available in 2026, or until she’s finally settled into long-term care.
