My sister Catherine and her husband Jim Howell are heroes in my book. For 25 years, they have made it their mission in life to rescue domesticated wolf hybrid dogs from dangerous situations at great personal expense. They have rescued animals that were abused and shot. Most were rescued due to the threat of confiscation and euthanization by authorities as there are many places where housing them is illegal. Their mission is to give wolfdogs a place to live out their lives in peace and also to educate people about the ins and outs of keeping wolfdogs.
In 2019, Twin Rivers Wolf and Wolfdog Sanctuary was incorporated and received 501c3 tax exempt status from the IRS. At this time, they are caring for 48+ wolf dogs and several horses. Catherine has found a way to help veterans with PTSD that want to get involved in the program. The veterans will be offered an opportunity to live on the property and spend part of their free time learning about and working with wolfdogs. Animals have a way of reaching a person's heart.
Jim passed away one year ago and that has left the care of all of these beautiful animals solely in the hands of my sister. She has given her life to care for the animals and educate the public.
There are a few large projects that need to be completed before opening to the public which will make them self sustainable. Funds raised here will be a Godsend.
Thank you for your consideration.
