My name is Lino, and I’m reaching out for my little sister, Cassy. We were both born and raised in Chicago. We have a few family members in other states, but here in Chicago it's just her, my mother, Sandra, and myself.
In October 2025, Cassy wasn’t feeling well and discovered a growth in her right breast. After a visit to Northwestern Hospital, we received the devastating news that she had been diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. Since then, Cassy has been bravely undergoing chemotherapy. The treatment has had its ups and downs—while the growth initially shrank, it has recently stopped responding. She’s now facing one more chemo session before a likely mastectomy surgery. She may be the one with the cancer, but my mother and I are along for the fight as well.
Through it all, Cassy has shown incredible strength and resilience. She’s worked at Whole Foods for nearly 11 years, but has had to take an extended leave of absence to focus on her health and healing. As her brother, I drive for Uber to support us, but my income alone just isn’t enough to cover all our expenses.
We’re reaching out for help to cover monthly bills like rent, healthy groceries, and gas for the car so Cassy can get to and from her treatments. Every bit of support, no matter the amount, will help us get through this challenging time. If you’re unable to donate, your prayers and positive vibes mean the world to us. It's hard to ask, but my grandmother taught me to be humble and to remember when times are tough it's ok to ask for help.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can offer, whether it be financially, spiritually or even by sharing this story. Be healthy, and know that your kindness brings hope to our family.
Cancer is strong, but the love and support of a community is far stronger.
