Support Cassie's Afterlife Care and Celebration of Life.

On August 22, 2024, Cassie was admitted to St. Mary’s CDU unit because of an abscessed tooth. She was also complaining of chest pain, headache, and shortness of breath. She was there for three days. At 9:33 am on August 25, 2024, Cassie sent me a text, "Mom, they’re discharging me." The next phone call I received was from a St. Mary’s ER nurse saying that Cassie was found unresponsive in the parking lot and I needed to come sign papers. When I arrived at the hospital, Cassie was already on the ventilator. They said they had to protect her airway. The doctors ordered a CAT scan that showed Cassie had multiple blood clots in her left lung and some in her right. They ordered a Heparin drip and continued heavy-hitting antibiotics. Cassie remained unresponsive and in the ICU. The doctors did not know why she was unresponsive and showing no improvement.

On September 5, 2024, they did a tracheostomy, yet she remained on the ventilator. The doctors ordered an MRI. When the results were read, it showed that my sweet baby had suffered two strokes at the base of her brain stem. As a result, she was unable to communicate, move, regulate her body temperature, and blood pressure, among other countless tragedies.

Cassie was immediately placed on comfort care and moved to Thomas Hospital Hubbard House. Cassie went to sleep, never to wake again, on September 14, 2024, at 2:58 am.

At the young age of 38, life insurance is rarely thought of. I don’t have the financial means for her afterlife care or life celebration.
