On January 23rd, Cassie went in for what was expected to be a simple emergency gallbladder surgery. Little did she know that it would turn into a cascading series of traumatic events that would change her life. During the procedure, doctors discovered severe damage to her pancreas, which triggered a cascade of serious and life-threatening complications to many of her organs.
Since that day, Cassie has endured four major surgeries with many more to come and remains in the ICU (still not aware of what has happened to her) She is currently intubated and receiving frequent dialysis as her medical team works tirelessly to stabilize her. While there have been some encouraging signs following this most recent surgery, Cassie is still far from out of the woods and faces a very long and difficult road to recovery with many more surgical procedures ahead.
Cassie has been unable to work continuously for the last 18 months as she dealt with autoimmune issues that had left her quite ill. The medical team is now telling the family that it will be at least a year for her recovery and so she will not have any income during that time.
Cassie is a devoted single mom to her beautiful 11-year-old daughter, Zoey. As medical bills, daily living expenses, Zoey’s care and the realities of a prolonged hospitalization continue to grow, the financial strain is unplanned and overwhelming.
Any support you are able to give will help ease the burden so Cassie can focus on healing and Zoey can be cared for during this incredibly uncertain time. Whether through a donation, sharing this page, or keeping them in your thoughts, every act of kindness truly matters.
