Cancer is a six letter word that can turn your life upside down, shake it around and leave you to sort out the aftermath. On July 3rd, Cassie’s world got turned upside down. She found a lump. After a week of new doctors and tests, she got the call. Cassie was officially diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. She is only 35. This was her second cancer diagnosis in less than 9 months. In October of 2023, Cassie was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. There were no signs. She went in for a routine physical and her Primary care Dr. felt a tumor. The journey began. In December, she had a total thyroid-ectomy. She took time off from work to heal and finally got back to a full schedule of flying in April only to be met with a brand new cancer diagnosis in July.
Cassie learned her breast cancer is HER2-positive. This means she has an aggressive form of cancer. Her2-positive breast cancer has a faster rate of spreading, growing and coming back. Her medical team informed her the recommended approach would be aggressive to treat it as early and head on as possible. After meeting her surgeon, oncologist, and radiologist, Cassie and her family chose a path forward, and here we are. This journey will be one year from start to end. Five months of Chemotherapy. A few weeks off for her body to heal after the last chemo treatment and prepare her body for surgery. Followed up with six months of radiation.
In August Cassie began her first chemotherapy treatment. Due to her job as a flight attendant and being high risk with a compromised immune system, she will not be working for the duration of this treatment.
We are raising money to help her cover medical bills and treatments as well as pay her insurance and day-to-day living expenses while she is off work during this time.
Cassie is incredibly grateful for each person who has sent support, love, kind thoughts and prayers through this difficult journey. She knows her village has her back and she is not alone.
