My name is Michelle Nichelson, but this GoFundMe isn't about me. It's for one of my best friends, Cassie Hoskins.

Cassie is a mother, wife, student advisor at HCTC and previously an educator in the Hannibal School District. More than her sole titles, Cassie is a kind, funny, caring, and wonderful person who has always put others before herself, especially her children, even those who aren't her own.

Cassie was scheduled to have a prophylactic mastectomy to prevent breast cancer on February 14, 2025. She chose to get this procedure because she carries the BRCA 2 gene. Her pre-op scan noted a mass in her right breast and after her biopsy, she was diagnosed with breast cancer on February 13, 2025.

Thankfully through all of the preventative care & trust in her gut to locate a medical team in Kansas City, Kansas, they were able to diagnose her breast cancer at stage one.

Although, her results have been found early; Cassie and her family have a long road to beating this!

Any funds raised will allow her and her family to relieve a little bit of the financial burden this road will carry. Such as unknown medical expenses, time off work, travel to and from, overnight stays, meals, and more for her and her family.
