Support Cassandra's Endometriosis Excision Surgery
Donation protected
Hi All! I’m starting this GoFundMe for my beautiful sister-in-law, Cassandra.
Cassandra has been bravely battling with endometriosis (a chronic inflammatory disease, considered one of the top 10 most painful illnesses in the world) for some time now.
Cassandra spent many years as an L&D nurse, making sure she touched every family she came in contact with, making sure that every patient felt like they were her only family she had that day. If you know Cassandra, you know how big her heart is. You know how she will give her all to her friends and family. Her laugh will brighten any bad day.
Cassandra has spent the last year getting poked and probed at, finally having the surgery that diagnosed her with stage III endometriosis. She spent the last year going through intense treatment, putting herself through menopause, and doing a full lifestyle change, all while taking care of her precious 2-year-old Brooke, infertility, and two miscarriages.
Now here is the thing. Since it took so long for a doctor to FINALLY do the surgery, they didn’t remove all of it. It’s not covered as a disability, although it prevents people from being able to accomplish simple daily activities. Excision surgery is not covered, which will be their next hurdle after not having infertility care covered either. The initial consults are hundreds of dollars, followed by thousands of dollars for surgery. If not properly removed, it can travel anywhere—the heart, lungs, and brain even—and it’s common for people to need bowel resections. It increases the risk of things like ovarian cancer.
So here’s where we come in. Cassandra needs to go through another surgery, but it’s vital that she goes to a good endometriosis excision specialist. The contributions will cover the surgery, and if there is anything left over, it will go towards any past medical bills.
Any contribution, big or small, brings Cassandra closer to a life free of endometriosis pain. She is an empathetic, bright, nurturing, and kind-hearted soul and remains so despite the hardships of her medical journey.
Trevor has been working ENDLESS hours, while Cassandra has been picking up extra shifts, just trying to stay afloat, while these out-of-pocket costs have been adding up all year. As a sister-in-law/sister, these past few years, I have felt completely helpless.
So from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
