Support Cassandra's Battle Against Colon Cancer

Update 4/7/24: After many months of chemo, Cassandra became too sick to travel. She has been in and out of the hospital for a couple months and was unable to continue chemo. Last Monday (her 44th birthday), she went home with hospice. Her condition is deteriorating drastically and her prognosis is not good. Please consider supporting this family. It hasn’t even been a year since Cassandra was diagnosed and the past year has been a whirlwind of heartache. This has devastated her entire family and they need us to rally around them right now. I can’t think of a single person more deserving of our support.
As you may know, Cassandra has been battling stage 4 colon cancer while juggling her roles as a special needs mom, wife, and cherished paraprofessional at Central Academy. She completed her degree in education in December 2022 and was actively pursuing her teaching certificate before being diagnosed in early May. She spent the summer going through chemo only to find out her body was not responding to it. She sought a second opinion and is now working with a doctor in Seattle who is confident he can provide treatment that will allow her to have a potentially life-saving surgery. Despite her own challenges, she has tirelessly worked with at-risk youth with disabilities, making a significant impact on their lives.
Recently, Cassandra was informed that she does not qualify for long-term disability or FMLA. This means that if she is unable to return to work almost immediately after her treatment, she will be forced to resign, losing her job and health insurance.
To support Cassandra during this time, she will need financial assistance for transportation to and from Seattle, where she undergoes same-day chemo treatments once a week for the next 12-16 weeks. Additionally, funding for food, transportation to and from the hospital while in Seattle, and medical bills would make all the difference in her family's world.
Cassandra has always been a pillar of support for others, and now it's our turn to rally around her. Any contribution, big or small, would make a tremendous difference in her journey towards recovery.
Thank you for supporting Cassandra during this challenging time. Together, we can make a positive impact in her life.
