Support Cassady Velasco After Emergency Heart Surgery

Friends and family of Cassady,

Our sweet friend Cassady Velasco (neé McCabe, Evers) is recovering from heart surgery on January 23, 2025 after the pacemaker she had placed following the cardiac arrest and coma she suffered in 2022, now created a hole in her heart. A single mom to three amazing adult children, Cassady is fiercely independent, however the days, weeks and months ahead could be a challenge, and your donations are greatly appreciated to offset the challenges she has ahead. Cassady lives along the Central California coast, a place she has called home for more than two decades. She is an incredibly hard working journalist, leading the KSBW newsroom. With three kids in college, one of whom has special needs and lives at home and depends on Cassady, the ability to financially obtain help for things here and there, and the ability to order a meal instead of cook one, will no doubt make her recovery easier. Please consider making a donation to this fund to offset her expenses ahead. As of this initial posting, Cassady remains hospitalized and is recovering with loved ones by her side.
