On July 23, 2025, Casey and her family experienced an unimaginable tragedy. A fire occurred in the morning while the kids were still asleep. Thankfully, the fire alarm woke my granddaughter, but when she opened her door to leave, the hot, black smoke forced her and her boyfriend to take their 2 1/2-week-old baby out of their 1st-floor window. With the help of her brother, her younger sister was able to escape through the thick smoke. In a matter of minutes, they lost everything — their home, their belongings, and heartbreakingly, their three cats.

Only six weeks earlier, family and friends gathered for a baby shower to help Kayleigh and AJ prepare for the arrival of their son. All of the gifts received — diapers, clothing, baby gear — are now gone. They are left with only the clothes they were wearing that day.

As a single mom with three children and a new grandchild, Casey now faces the daunting task of rebuilding their lives from scratch. They are safe, and for that, we are deeply grateful, but they are displaced, traumatized, and in need of help to begin again.
