Support Casey & Paul in Scooby's Surgery & Recovery Journey

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

My name is Stella. I am here today to help a cousin in need. Her name is Casey and her husband Paul. Their bundle of joy, Scooby.
Scooby is a 6-year-old Maltese-Terrier mix, with tons of energy and lots of affection to spare. If you let him go in an open space, all he wants to do is run—fur slicked back from the wind, full-speed bullet train kind of running. He tore his ACL in one of his back legs and has not been able to walk well, let alone run. With a torn ACL and meniscus, they have been told their only option for him to use his leg again is full repair surgery.

On August 30th, he went outside completely fine in the late afternoon and came back into the house a few minutes later limping. They took him to emergency care that night after he was panting heavily without stopping for hours, refused water and food, and would not put any pressure on his leg.

The emergency vet found with x-rays that the bones in his leg were out of alignment, and through a physical exam, that his ACL was completely torn.

It was a Friday night, and a holiday weekend where most businesses were closed until Tuesday. They got Scooby to their regular vet a few days later, who is also able to perform orthopedic surgery, and they confirmed Scooby's injury and his need for surgery. Nonsurgical options, like getting a brace, would not work. He would continue to damage his leg further and it would not heal properly on its own.

The emergency vet and the follow-up with their primary vet together cost $1,000. Neither location allows payment plans and requires payment in full.

They have been trying to save up and apply to get funding for the surgery, but no success yet. The surgery date, October 10th, is coming up very soon. They have to be able to pay the veterinary office in full the day of surgery. The estimated cost for surgery is up to $2,500 or more. Considering the time off from work they must attend the day of surgery and days after, it would be a great help if we could round everything up to $5,000. I know this sounds like a lot but trust me, the money received will be put to good use.

This has been an unexpected situation for them. They find themselves in a situation where they could really use the help of other pet parents out there or anyone that loves dogs and/or people who want to help out to keep some stress off this young couple that is trying their very best to get help for their little bundle of joy.

By donating to this link, you will not only be helping out a person in need but a little dog that is in tremendous pain.
Anything that you are able to donate will help so much! It will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for stopping by and reading this!
