Support Casey Copfer's Bridge to Recovery
Donation protected
I met Casey Copfer in March of 2023, they were one of the first people to welcome me on my new team at work. I now consider them one of my best friends. Something you may not know about Casey Copfer is that they were diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome or MDS at the age of 19. Since then, Casey gets treatment every 2-3 years, up to and including radiation and chemotherapy. Most recently they began treatment again at the end of 2023. It wouldn’t surprise me if you hadn’t noticed as they are an extremely hard worker and generous friend. This last bout of treatment has taken a toll on their mental and physical health, and they are unable to work for long periods of time due to their energy levels.
Since completing their last round of chemotherapy in February 2024, sadly Casey has faced new health complications that are severely impacting their digestive and neurological systems. At the beginning of September, they were diagnosed with a left temporal lobe tumor and are still waiting for testing to understand the full impact of this news.
Casey was reluctant to ask her friends to donate, but I insisted that there may be people that want to help in any way they can. That could be through monetary donations or other means of support. Due to Casey’s declining health, they have submitted a request to go on short term disability. But, due to their illness and previous treatment schedule they are out of PTO to bridge the two-week gap that is required before the disability payments start. To help Casey bridge the gap between now and when short-term disability kicks in I have started a Go Fund me page for anyone who would like to help by donating.
No one is obligated to donate, and I know times are hard for everyone. Money doesn’t go as far as it used to, but if you can find it in your budget to donate even $5, it will go to an extremely hard-working and giving person, that could use just a little help at this very difficult time.
