Last Sunday, Casey was unexpectedly diagnosed with esophageal cancer. We’re all processing this very tough news. After spending a week in the hospital undergoing tests, we’re grateful that Casey was discharged home and has been able to catch up on sleep and spend time with family.

With the complexity of this diagnosis, we’re planning to travel to the University of Washington so that a multidisciplinary cancer team can help determine the best possible treatment for Casey. We’re actively making plans for this big trip including booking flights and securing housing in Seattle. On top of these unforeseen expenses, we’re expecting significant medical bills in the coming weeks and months as we both take a break from our work to focus on Casey’s health.
