Support Casey's End-of-Life Care and Family
Donation protected

My name is Angela Hornsby. I am the organizer of this fundraiser for my childhood neighbor/best friend/"sister", Alison and her wonderful husband, Casey. Through no fault of their own, they are facing extreme financial hardship due to exorbitant medical bills and end-of-life care/costs for Casey. In what is already a difficult and devastating time in their lives, finances should be the last thing on Alison and Casey's minds. This should be a time for Alison and their children to enjoy what time they have left with Casey. At end-of-life, they should be afforded the time to grieve and heal from the loss of Casey. I am asking for donations to help pay ever-mounting medical bills, end-of-life and funeral costs. Any amount you can give is greatly needed and appreciated. Prayers are always welcomed.
Casey explains in his own words below.
Dear friends, family, and compassionate strangers,
I'm reaching out to you today with a heavy heart to share my journey. Seven years ago, I was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Cancer and am facing the end of my battle. While I have fought with all my strength all these years, the financial burden of cancer treatments has mounted. This, coupled with the certainty of my future since deciding to stop treatment, weighs heavily on my mind and especially on that of my beloved wife, Alison.
The costs associated with cancer treatment have been substantial and though I have now chosen to end treatment, I will still need continued care, and ultimately, the cost that comes with end of life are daunting. We are doing everything we can, but the financial strain is immense.
Beyond the end of life care and the difficult reality of funeral/memorial expenses, due to my need of constant care over the last years, the income that we currently have is strictly tied to my disability income and a very small pension from UGA, which both go away when I pass. It's a conversation no one wants to have, but planning for the future is a way to ease some of the burden on Alison during an already unimaginable time.
My greatest wish is to ensure that Alison is supported in the days, weeks, and months to come. Losing a partner is a profound and life-altering experience, and I want to provide her with a small cushion to help navigate the difficult journey of grief and adjustment without the added stress of immediate financial worries.
We have created this GoFundMe campaign to ask for your support during this incredibly challenging time. Your generous contributions will directly help with:
Ongoing care: Covering medical bills, medications, and in-home health services to help as my disease progresses.
Upcoming funeral/memorial expenses: Providing peace of mind and alleviating some of the financial burden for Alison while giving our children, family & friends a space to gather to continue to feel close to me.
Support for my grieving wife: Offering her a small measure of financial security as she navigates life during and after this difficult time.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in our lives. Your kindness and generosity will provide us with hope, reduce our stress, and allow us to focus on what truly matters: my choice and our time together.
We understand that times are tough for many, and if you are unable to contribute financially, your prayers, positive thoughts, and sharing this campaign would mean the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your compassion and support. We are eternally grateful for your kindness.
With love and hope,
