Last week we received the heartbreaking news that Maddie and Kyle’s 19th month old son, Carter, was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (or B-Cell ALL). It’s devastating to imagine him facing such a challenge before even turning two years old. They were immediately admitted into Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla where they will remain for the next 30 days while Carter receives treatment. Maddie and Kyle have dropped everything so they can remain by Carter’s side, and he is already fighting fiercely.
Once Carter transitions to outpatient care—hopefully after this initial hospital stay—his chemo treatments will continue for the next two years. While the road ahead is uncertain, one thing we know for sure is that Carter won’t be able to attend daycare for the foreseeable future due to his fragile immune system.
Maddie and Kyle are taking things one day at a time, focusing on each small victory in what will be a marathon journey, not a sprint. We all are confident Carter will continue to fight fiercely through it all.
Many of you have reached out asking how you can help. As we’re all still processing this news, one meaningful way to support them right now is by helping ease the financial burden of Carter’s medical care. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will make a difference — and please don’t feel any obligation. Your love, prayers, and support mean the world to them.
