Support Carrie Varney Bibeau's Fight for Life

Donation protected
My name is Donna Washburn, a retired Special Education teacher, working in the field for over 35 years. I've always worked to fight for my students, making sure they get whatever they need to have a successful life. Now, it's time to help one of my former students who is fighting for HER life. I am writing on behalf of her and her family.

On August 22, 2024, Carrie Varney Bibeau had a major, life-threatening 12-hour surgery for an extremely large intradural extradural tumor in her spine. The tumor spread from her L1 to her S5, wrapping around her spinal nerves in the sacral region. While much of the tumor was removed, much of it had to remain due to the high risk of permanent paralysis.

Carrie remains at Yale in New Haven, CT, and in the near future, she will go to Acute Rehabilitation, then to the Smilow Cancer Center in Waterford, CT for radiation to attack the remaining tumor. Her prognosis is unknown at this point. She has been left with severe scoliosis from weak bones, along with a host of other complications. UPDATE: On September 12, she was admitted to ICU with a central nervous system infection and septic shock. She and her family have a very long road ahead of them. Even with this unfortunate news, Carrie manages to have an upbeat attitude and is one heck of a fighter!!

Carrie, who is also mentally delayed and legally blind, is cared for by her elderly grandmother and her aunt. The donations and funds collected will be used for treatments, support, travel expenses, meals, accommodations, and any future unexpected expenses. Any amount will help ease the burdens that the family has endured so far, and what they have coming in the near and far future. I know that it will bring A HUGE HEARTFELT THANK YOU!!!!

A little bit about Carrie: She attended Fields Memorial School in Bozrah, CT, Lighthouse Services, worked at Riverview Farm in Montville, CT, and has been an avid participant of the CT Special Olympics, participating in bowling, ice skating, and track and field. She is known for her love of horses, poetry, and is a brave fan of some real good ghost stories! Please support this brave young lady and her family who take care of her with tender loving care and commitment every single day.
YOUR SUPPORT IS MUCH APPRECIATED!!!
