GO FUND ME MEDICAL EXPENSES FOR MY YT CO-HOST PETEY
PETEY FREEMAN
Tuxedo/part Maine Coon

BACK STORY: As some of you are aware, I had a catastrophic accident last March, when I tripped on Hollywood Blvd., hit the pavement and passed out. The accident crushed the right side of my body (upper arm and shoulder—my dominant side). The fall necessitated Orthopedic surgery and rendered me disabled for months. A dear friend flew here from N. Carolina and took care of me 24/7. (I did not set up a GFM for myself)…. I stopped producing videos for My Left Ear—and my coaching business came to a halt. It drained my savings as well. THIS IS THE REASON I am posting a Go Fund Me for Petey. I couldn’t
do it for myself!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HOW WE MET: I rescued Glorious Pete (one of his many nicknames), 4 years ago. He was found as a kitten, foraging for food behind a grocery store. We think that he’s about 4.5 years old. Until this past week, he's never been sick.
Aside from “Glorious Pete,” my boy has various nicknames:
George Maine Clooney, Petey Boy, Petey Bear, Sweetie Petey, Big Boy
Good Boy, Bad Boy, Glorious Pete, & Tupac Petey.
PETEY, THE CELEBRITY: Last year, Pete began jumping up on my desk while filming. Viewers loved his presence, and I began referring to Pete as “my co-host.” He’s a little bit famous now. Over the last few weeks, however, he stopped appearing, but I did not realize that the infection had begun.
CUT TO: On Saturday morning (12/7/24), I rushed Petey to the ER. That day, every pet hospital was booked and could not see us—But it was dire. He was yelping in pain, and hissed at me, which never happens. Petey is 23 lbs of love and charisma.
Btw, Urinary blockages are very common in male cats—Pete has an intense textbook obstruction, which can lead to death. He cried out when I picked him up, and yelled at me in the car while driving to the Vet Hospital. On the way, I begged him: “Pete please do not have a heart attack.”
We arrived at the great Veterinary hospital, where he had numerous tests, x-rays, blood workup, cultures, etc. They anesthetized him and installed a catheter for drainage. They put him on antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and a liquid medicine to clear his urine of crystals. Fortunately, his crystals are not “stones” which would definitely require surgery. The nature of this impairment
However, is that it could require surgery in the future. Too much information??
Poor guy was in the ER for a few days at which time, they sent him home with oral meds and instructions. The next morning, he was Not okay and Not urinating (except for some droplets). I rushed him back to the hospital where they resumed all treatment—i.e. another round of anesthesia/meds/catheter—Even Ketamine to keep him calm, as he had managed to disconnect the catheter = Bad Boy.
As of Thursday, 12/12, he was still at the hospital. Then was eventually moved “boarding” status at their facility, where was observed, issued the medicines, and scratched. If lucky, I may get to bring him home on Friday or Saturday.
Encino Pet Hospital’s Dr. Faraday, and staff have been spectacular. He’s receiving the best care possible. Everyday they text me photos of him, updates, and the wonderful doctor calls me directly.
UPDATE: On Saturday, 12/21, I rushed Pete Back to the hospital. A new bacterial infection was discovered. All his meds have been changed. He is back on a catheter, intravenous fluids and pain medicine. He’s on stronger antibiotics, and a liquid urinary medication, and more!
On Monday, before Christmas, I will be having a conference call with Both doctors about doing surgery….OR put Petey down.
I could not face that.
As you can imagine, the costs are astronomical. I’ve had no recourse except to establish a GO FUND ME campaign. As of today, I do not have a final total on his medical expenses, but as of today, the vet invoice is may be between $8,500 and $12,500. Don’t have the total yet. If he must have surgery, the costs will go UP further.
My strategy is to ask for small contributions, and if enough people pitch IN, it will add up. Even if we receive $7.00 donations, it will add up. Needless to say, larger donations are highly welcome, but at the same time,I am keenly aware that (some) people are on fixed incomes—
As I refine and rewrite this outreach, I will update and add more photos. I just wanted to get the energy rolling. Thank you in advance for caring.
Love,
Carrie Freeman, Petey’s mom.
