Support Carrie Johnson's Urgent Heart Transplant

Hello, we are raising funds for our friend Carrie Johnson in support of Carrie's medical bills and living expenses while she navigates an extremely serious time. Carrie has been diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. She needs a heart transplant as soon as it's available. The results of her right heart catheterization have displayed her heart failing much faster than anyone expected and is continuing to decline; she has been moved from a status 2 to a status 1 on the transplant list. She has been in the hospital since august 22nd.

She is currently hooked up to a balloon pump that supports her heart, alongside and Inotrope-Milrinone 0.2 mcg/kg/min and Epinephrine 2 mcg/min. She is unable to do basic things like move from her bed to the bathroom without assistance. Things like sitting up and rearranging her body bring on shortness of breath and extreme discomfort.

In addition to medical assistance were seeking financial assistance during her recovery period due to the fact that she was denied disability and the medical system is absolutely fucked. Once she receives a heart she will need at least a year's worth of financial assistance as she is recovering. The first year of rest is crucial to her survival. She will need assistance with rent, extreme health insurance prices, groceries etc. Carrie regularly helps her mother and 84 year old grandmother with their basic financial needs which she now is unable to assist as well.

If you know Carrie, I'm sure you will agree when we say she is the strongest person we have ever met. She often minimizes her struggles to protect those she loves. As her friends we are choosing to advocate for her as she has done for us for so long. Carrie is a once in a lifetime kind of friend. This is easily understood after one real conversation with her. She consistently inspires and supports us, and always provides a laugh when it's most needed. We love you Carrie.
