I’m reaching out in hopes of any kind of assistance right now. It’s been almost a year since my heart transplant, and unfortunately, I’ve found myself back in a difficult financial situation. I still haven’t received social security, and while the bills keep coming, I’m only able to work extremely part time due to their guidelines.

Since my transplant, I’ve been hospitalized more than 10 times. My heart is currently in mild rejection, and my medication (prednisone) has been increased from 20mg once a day to 40mg twice a day. On top of that, my blood sugar has become extremely difficult to manage, (300+) which is a side effect of the higher prednisone dose. The medication has also triggered bleeding stomach ulcers. This has caused me to miss even more work, while my income remains very limited.

At this point, I’m nearly 3 months behind on my health insurance, which has now left me unable to collect the medication that is essential to my survival. The stress, pain, and anxiety from all of this have been overwhelming, and I truly would not be asking if I had any other way forward.
