Hi I am Carol, the mother of a disabled son that was scammed out of his life savings. My son was a physical therapist with a private practice who was diagnosed with Leukodystrophy and Vanishing White Matter Disease in 2020. Over time this led to his coordination becaming worse causing him to fall frequently. In December of 2023 after finishing a day working as a PT, Joe fell downstairs and suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury.   

This head trauma compounded by the  Leukodystrophy and Vanishing White Matter Disease has led to permanent disability. He had to give up his physical therapy practice and is now confined to a wheelchair. Joe has been searching for a new purpose in life and had been searching for remote jobs that he could do from home. After finding what seemed like a good opportunity, over the course of a few months, he was later scammed out of $228,000; his entire life savings. I have reported this to my local police and FBI. The FBI is not hopeful that we will ever see the money again. I am making this public and bringing this to light in hopes that it will help others not fall prey to schemes like these. The money Joe was scammed out of was to be used to help him with his physical therapy needs, equipment needs as his condition declines further, and to help pay for long-term care needs as I am elderly myself. The last thing I want is for Joe to worry about how he is going to afford to pay for the things he needs in the near future. I am asking for help to try to build back some of what was lost.
