Support Carol's Battle Against Metastatic Cancer

Carol’s first breast cancer appeared February 17, 2020, shortly before COVID-19, at 65. She went through a bilateral mastectomy surgery with 2 cancerous masses and 7 out of 31 lymph nodes removed for cancer, 17 chemotherapy and 30 radiation treatments. She was able to isolate and continued to teach remotely, insulated by COVID restraints, until she finished treatments and then moved from San Diego to the Lake of the Ozarks in January 2021.

Fast forward to the present with her breast cancer having metastasized to her right humerus bone. Carol is a retired Early Childhood Teacher and employed part-time as a substitute teacher and works as a clerk in a grocery store to aid with her SSA income. Her medical and oncology team is located in Columbia, MO, which is a 3-hour round trip drive from the lake. She has completed 5 radiations that ended 11/20/24. Cumulative effects of fatigue, nausea, and radiation burns. On 12/6/24, she met with her primary to help coordinate care and is helping monitor pain medication from her other cancer specialists. She will meet with her breast oncologist on 12/10/2024 to discuss blood work and next steps. A follow-up has been scheduled with the radiation oncologist on 12/26/2024 to assess the results from the first round.

Right now, Carol is doing her very best to pivot and overcome. She has taken the appropriate actions, but for every appointment and hospital visit, there are expenses that could not be prepared for. These funds will be used to cover the associated expenses of this second journey and recovery.
