Support Caroline Russell's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Hello Everyone! So many of you have asked how you can support the Russell family through this tough time- and here is a tangible way to help them cover the medical expenses they have been incurring throughout Caroline's recovery. If you know Kerry and Jeremy- you know they are the first to offer a helping hand when someone needs it. Let's come together as a community and do the same for them!
From the family:
Caroline Russell, age 10, is currently in an intensive inpatient rehab program at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital after losing the ability to walk. This all began with lower back pain on April 18th and she has been hospitalized between ETCH and Cincinnati Children’s since April 21st with a diagnosis of Functional Neurological Disorder. It is possible this disorder was triggered by/is related to a months long battle from a ecoli infection this fall. She was approved for the inpatient rehab program on May 6th and her current estimated discharge date is June 4th. She had a big breakthrough on May 15th which could possibly move up her discharge date.
Her mom, Kerry, has had to take time off from work to be with her full time in Cincinnati. Between medical bills, travel expenses, and loss of wages due time away from work, the unexpected costs have added up quickly. Her dad, Jeremy, is a teacher and always takes on an extra job or two in the summer but will not be able to this summer to help care for her at home and allow Kerry to catch back up at work.
The family wants complete transparency by sharing that they have a trip to visit the Hawaii National Parks planned for late June. The trip has been planned and saved for over the last 7 years and was fully paid for before Caroline’s new health issues began. They still plan to travel as long as Caroline is discharged from the hospital and it is safe for her to travel. Her big goal on the vision board she created in rehab is to “walk on the beach in Hawaii.”
If you’d like to help ease some of the financial pressure through added expenses during this challenging time, any support is greatly appreciated.
