Today we rescued 20 Dachshund From a "Backyard Breeder"...
I have never and will never forget the stench these dogs were living in. After 30 years in Rescue this is the worst, I have ever seen. I will only post a few photos as they seriously make me physically ill.
We have 20 dogs ranging from 1-10+ years old. Every dog has urine scalding; every dog has horrific ear infections and skin infections. They all need to be Spayed and Neutered and they all need shots and blood work and exams.
This will NOT be cheap or easy on the heart, but this is what we sign up for when we choose Rescue and when I said Yes, this Morning!
Since we took these dogs directly from the crime scene, they have not had any type of Intake, so we start from scratch with their Vetting. WE NEED YOUR HELP!
They are being Quarantined at the Clinic. 20 Kennels for 5 Days! The Boarding Bill alone will be almost $5,000. There truly is no other option as they have to be in QT and they have to get basic Vetting before we can place them into foster homes. We HAVE to ensure they are disease and parasite free prior to placing them with our dogs.
The Body Score on many of these dogs is a 4 out of 10 UNACCEPTABLE!
- Blood Work for 20 dogs is $183 a dog
- 3 X-ray for a few that we suspect have broken bones
- 4 Ultrasound for 4 that we suspect at pregnant
- 20 Skin Scrapes
- 20 Ear Scrapes
- 20 rabies
- 20 sets of shots
- 20 Microchips
- 12 Spays
- 8 Neuters
I am afraid to see what the medications will be as we already know they are riddled with infections! We have not even started looking under the hood!

That is just the basics, that is not food, beds, leashes, collars, crates and everything else you need to house each dog.
We are a Small Org, and we are reaching out to see if we can get any of the Emergency Grants that we have found. We are working hard on finding as many cost cutting without losing quality off care. but we can't skip on the basics EVER!
These dogs have been bred living in filth; the disgusting humans sold the puppies for $2,000 and UP! and SOLD them all over the place with PAPERWORK! Yes, Registered puppies...and you wonder why I am such an advocate for regulations.
These dogs deserve BETTER!
Once all of these amazing dogs have been vetted they will be available for Adoption!
