My name is Patrick and I’m starting this fundraiser for my best friend, Carol Stever Daniels.
in April and May, Carol began having issues with walking and was using a walker. On 6/2/25, she was unable to walk at all and had had a few falls. I called the ambulance because she couldn’t get off the couch. She honestly thought she had sciatica the whole time. We spent the night in the ER and the next morning, they did a CT scan and found she had fractured discs in her lower back. They suspected cancer based on the initial scans. On 6/3/25, she was admitted and told by an oncologist that she couldn’t guarantee she’d ever walk again.
That first week in the hospital Carol underwent every scan, MRI and test imaginable. They did find some tumors in her breast which they biopsied right away. At this point, cancer was the diagnosis but they had to find out to what extent. Carol’s breast cancer came back as Grade 4 and it had metastasized to her bones which resulted in the breaking of her bones in her lower back. The cancer was apparently eating at all her bones and they found cancer not only in her lower back but both hips, cervical and thoracic spine and many, many other spots in her bones in other parts of her body. At first the doctors said she’d be heading to hospice care with not long to live.
Carol finally was hooked up with an awesome radiation oncologist and a medical oncologist who both felt she is a good candidate for palliative care and they felt while the cancer is not curable, they could shrink the tumors and put her on chemo maintenance for the rest of her life. She chose this route and decided to fight for her life. While she’s still confined to bed rest and uses a wheelchair, she is hoping to get her legs working again so she can at least use a walker.
Carol has had one round of radiation to her lower back and on 7/29/25 will begin radiation on her hips. Then she will have it done on her cervical and thoracic spine. During this treatment, she is also having chemotherapy and has had one session so far.
I am trying to help her financially because she cannot work because treatments are every day. She has applied for disability but it has been taking its time giving her an answer. She has a lot of expenses including gas, supplies to live comfortably, food items such as protein shakes because she cannot eat, approximately 25 medications, she still has to pay her mortgage, car payment and utilities and other smaller household expenses. Of course you know she has her furbabies to care for as well. She jokes that you don’t realize how much you really need until you get sick.
I'm hoping to raise enough money to keep her bills paid so she stresses less but every penny helps! Prayers help!
Thank you in advance for any donations and prayers you can send.
