For those of you who have been blessed through the years to be taught, served, and loved by Carol Lowery Pope at Mt Paran, and friends and family who have been blessed by her anointing of beautifully playing the piano and singing, her gift of encouragement and teaching, or maybe you have had your day made brighter the last few years at Chick-fil-A in the mall at Alexandria and Natchitoches, La…we wanted to let you know that her husband, Mike Pope, passed away November 7, 2025 at 75 years old.
Mike had a stroke and heart issues, in 2013, but had done amazingly well with Carol lovingly working with him in therapy. But the last couple of years, he had more strokes and his health declined, and he unexpectedly succumbed to a brain bleed at the brain stem. It was always his desire to help anyone, and being an organ donor was his final gift.
Because of antiquated and little known Louisiana laws, Carol will no longer live in the home that Mike built for his family and they shared in their marriage, and will need to move in 30 days.
If you know Carol well, she has always had many hopes and dreams. Life circumstances happen, as everyone knows, and Mikes health gradually declined. This scripture paints a picture of Carol.

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation…. And I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.
Her family and friends will be helping Carol pack up her belongings for storage and she will go to stay with her family in Tennessee for now. She is in shock, and grieving the suddenness of Mike’s passing, and where she has always been strong, no matter what life has brought, she broke her foot and is very limited in what she can physically do and has been unable to work at Chick-fil-A the last four weeks.
We feel that it would bless her so much if we made you aware, in the event you would like to help in a very small way with funeral and moving expenses that she will face. We are heartbroken for her, that while grieving for Mike, she must also be packing up her memories.
Her years of ministry at Mt Paran are some of the most significant of her life. All of her students were unique and so special and loved by Carol, and she has kept in touch with so many of you since then.
