Carol Connolly, a Swampscott life-long resident (SHS Class of 1967) and retired nurse, suffered a tragic, unexpected fall at her home in September of 2024. The fall left her paralyzed from the chest down. She has spent every day since that fall, when she was simply bringing in the mail - something we all do each and every day, in a hospital, rehab or assisted living. Her sister Jan (SHS class of 1975), has been by her side despite being thousands of miles away from her family and friends who live in Lusk, Ireland where Jan moved in 1994.
Jan, and her partner Joe and family, have adapted space in their home in Lusk to care for Carol long term. After nearly two years, the expenses for care have been exorbitant. As a next step, Carol and Jan are readying to go to Ireland so that Carol can be cared for in Jan and Joe's home. Funds will help with the transport and move and finalizing the set-up of in-home care.
Please, please consider helping this team of two wonderful sisters as they work together to make the best of a very difficult situation.
