Help Carol Get Back on the Road
Hello everyone,
My name is Carol Funk, and I’ve always tried to help those in need, often dedicating my own resources and time to that cause. Today, however, I find myself in a difficult and unexpected situation in California, and it is hard for me to ask for help, but I truly need it.
I traveled here from Denver with the hope of working to raise the funds needed to pay off an $8,000 loan taken out to rebuild my transmission and simply make ends meet. Unfortunately, my van—my home, my transportation, and my means to get to work—broke down unexpectedly, leaving me completely stranded.
I usually try to handle my challenges independently, but the repair costs are far beyond my current capabilities. I had a warranty for the transmission repair, which I thought would cover any failures, but it was denied because a radiator leak caused the damage. Before making the trip, I took all necessary precautions: I had the engine checked, oil changed, and new brakes installed. The journey to California was a significant decision, and I felt a mixture of nerves and determination as I made my way here. Now, I’m far from home and my loved ones in Denver, staying in the cheapest hotel I could find without any means of transportation while I work hard to earn some money.
I am scared and overwhelmed. I need to raise $5,000 to cover the repairs required to get my van back on the road and regain my stability. Fortunately, I’ve found a kind mechanic who is willing to repair my van at a reduced cost and keep it for a short while until I can gather the necessary funds. He plans to install a cooling system for the transmission so that this problem doesn’t happen again.
Here’s how the funds will be allocated:
- $5,000 for van repair costs (parts and labor)
- I hope to cover the following expenses through my continued work:
- $2,000 to $3,000 for temporary housing and essential living expenses (food, water, etc.) while my van is in the shop
Losing my van means losing my shelter, transportation, and ability to work. Your donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in my journey back to stability. If you can’t donate, simply sharing my story with your network would mean the world to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can offer. I promise to keep you updated on the repair process.
With endless gratitude,
Carol Funk
