My Tita Carmen was diagnosed with HER2+ (Stage 2) Breast Cancer in October 2020, which the doctors had found to be very progressive. Carmen began her fight against breast cancer. She had a double mastectomy. Unfortunately, in that surgery, the doctors had found that the cancerous cells had spread to her lymph nodes within 2 months of being diagnosed. Carmen has had to go through both chemotherapy and radiation to ensure that the cancer would not spread anywhere else. She will be needing more surgery in the upcoming months to continue her battle against breast cancer. My tita Carmen is a single mother raising a seventeen year old boy, who is working at home and going to doctor appointments in between her breaks.
