Support Carmel's Battle Against Breast Cancer

December 9th, 2024. A day my family will remember forever. On this day, my mother, Carmel, was diagnosed with breast cancer.

If you know my mom, you know she is one of the strongest people I know. Even with her diagnosis, she is still being positive.

On August 27 she had a routine mammogram everything was clear.  On the 27 Nov my mom had a routine ultrasound (dense tissue breast) this came back abnormal findings.  Fast forward to 12/5 when she had to have a biopsy and on 12/9 she got the call no one ever wants.  

You have breast cancer .

My mom has invasive ductal carcinoma it’s aggressive.  She has seen her surgeon and opted for a double mastectomy and then Chemotherapy. Then on Dec 19th she had an MRI to see if her mass had grown and low and behold it has.   If it wasn’t for how the late MRI was done and with the holidays my mom would have started Chemo first.  However we are sticking with the plan of surgery on 1/7.
