Support Carmello's Therapy and Recovery

Update: we found out that he does have spondylosis but that’s not the cause of him not being able to walk on his back legs. The vet said it’s more than likely a slipped or bulging disc in his spine that caused pressure on the spinal cord.

He has been going to treatments as I can afford since they are $632 weekly and to schedule the next one, they also require a down payment (usually after I pay for his appointment, they want to schedule the next one too)

I was also able to luckily get a wheelchair donated to Carmello so he now has that and really enjoys it!

This is Carmello. I adopted him from a local humane society where he had recently been fixed and wasn’t properly being taken care of (his stitches from being fixed were busting open, and he also had worms and an ear infection but wasn’t on medication). He now has many siblings and is super spoiled! He loves playing with his younger siblings and running around the yard too!

Recently, Carmello was diagnosed with spondylosis, and it’s severe to the point he is in a lot of pain and can no longer use his back legs. He is unable to control his bladder now as well. He was seen at the local emergency vet over the weekend where we found out about the condition, and at that moment, he was still able to walk. The next day, he lost the ability to use his legs or move really. He now needs help moving his lower half as he’s unable to.

Carmello loves cuddling and being around people! He loves car rides and getting new toys and treats. He loved playing with his younger sisters (who are also pit mixes). We are hoping to soon get a wheelchair for him so he can have some of his normal life back, but the wheelchair costs around $500 total.

For Carmello's condition, my vet is wanting to do therapy for him 3 times a week, frequency therapy for the next 3 months to help with nerve healing in his back end, and also see a chiropractor. We have an appointment to see another vet next Wednesday (3/26/25) to get set up for treatments. He’s already had a few rounds of physical therapy. We are also possibly looking for a second opinion at MU in Columbia, MO. They are estimating $10,500 total for his treatment currently for the next 3 months at my local vet.
