Carmel Owls, a volunteer organization, is dedicated to installing Great Horned Owl platforms on the Monterey Peninsula by identifying suitable trees, building the platforms, and deploying them with a 35ft cherry picker and our team of volunteers.
Carmel Owls’ goals over the next year are to build and install 12 owl platforms to encourage Great Horned Owls to nest and subsequently reduce the growing rodent population in the Monterey Peninsula.
$2,000 allows Carmel Owls to build six (6) owl platforms and deploy a rented cherry picker for the day to complete the installation of these platforms.
Carmel Owls' annual budget is approximately $5,000 per year which allows for two deployments (typically spring and fall) for a total of 10 platforms. We also, when appropriate, donate owl platforms.
Any funds that cannot be used for the building of Great Horned Owl platforms and their installation will be donated to the Monterey SPCA Raptor Program.
