Support Carly Raposo on her Road to Recovery
Donation protected
On August 24th, 2022, Carly woke up with half body paralysis and experienced an unexpected seizure. After being rushed to the hospital, she was diagnosed with a brain tumour. We were told that the tumour was a low grade, slow growing tumour, and that she needed surgery to have it removed as soon as possible. On August 30th, 2022, Carly had surgery to remove her brain tumour, which was successful. Although they were able to remove the entire tumor, there were some remaining cells that were unable to be removed due to Carly losing movement in her arm during surgery. During the last year of recovery, Carly has been experiencing some side effects such as a consistent numbness in her right leg that causes it to give out after walking for extended periods of time.
On February 9th, 2024, Carly went for a follow up appointment regarding a recent MRI. We were informed that the tumour has grown back and is now more aggressive and fast-growing than the first time.
Carly will have to go for a second brain surgery to remove the tumour within the next two weeks. Since the tumour has come back quickly and more aggressively, she will also have to have radiation and chemotherapy after this surgery to make sure all cells have been completely removed. Due to Carly having to go through another brain surgery, the risk of infection is higher, as well as the risk of losing movement in her arm and/or leg.
We are all staying very positive for Carly as we continue to face this challenge. Please, if you can, help support my sister and our family during this difficult time. The funds raised will be going toward Carly and everything needed during her road to recovery, as well as my mom who will need to take time off work to take care of her following her brain surgery. Thank you to everyone who has already reached out and has helped support Carly during this difficult time, we appreciate each and every one of you! ❤️
