Hello everyone, my name is Amelia,

I'm here to tell the story of my husband and the father of my daughter, Carlos Arreaga, who is currently detained in Buffalo, NY. On the morning of Friday, June 26th, while on his way to work as usual, he was detained by ICE agents without a warrant or any particular reason. They took him into custody, and my 19 month-old daughter, Kristel, and I are suffering from his absence, as he is the sole breadwinner for our family.

He is an honest, responsible man, and above all, an excellent father and husband. He’s been in Syracuse for the past 8 years, and supports many events in the community. He is always helping others. My daughter is suffering the most because she is very attached to him.

We are already working with a lawyer to request his prompt release; however, nothing is certain at this time. I am very worried because our savings will not be enough to pay the lawyer and our daily expenses. And even if we manage to get bail, we wouldn't be able to cover it without help from the community. I wish and have hope that my husband will return home to us; we need him so much. Thank you all so much for the great work you do for our community. I hope you can share this so that our story reaches more people.

Hola a todos mi nombre es Amelia,

hoy vengo a contar la historia de mi esposo y padre de mi hija, Carlos Arreaga, que hoy está detenido en Buffalo, NY. La mañana del viernes 26 de Junio cuando iba rumbo a su trabajo como todos los días, fue detenido por agentes de ICE sin ninguna orden y/o motivo. Sin embargo se lo llevaron detenido, mientras que mi pequeña de un año y siete meses de nombre Kristel y yo sufrimos la ausencia de mi esposo ya que él es el único ingreso económico de nuestro hogar.

Él es un hombre honesto, responsable y sobre todo es un excelente padre y esposo. Apoyo en muchos eventos para la comunidad y siempre está ayudando a los demás. Lleva 8 años aquí en Syracuse. Mi hija es la que más está sufriendo ya que ella es muy apegada a él.

Estamos trabajando ya con un abogado para pedir su pronta liberación sin embargo no hay nada certero en este momento. Yo estoy muy preocupada ya que nuestros ahorros no serán suficientes para pagar el abogado y nuestros gastos cotidianos. Y si logramos una fianza tampoco lograríamos cubrirla sin ayuda de la comunidad….espero y tengo esperanza que mi esposo regresará a casa con nosotras, lo necesitamos mucho. Muchas gracias a todos por su gran labor que hacen con nuestra comunidad, espero puedan compartir para que nuestra historia llegue a más personas.
