My dear friend and old college roommate, Carlos Sanchez, is currently in the hospital recovering from a stroke. To so many of us at Loyola Marymount, Carlos was a legend: brilliant, vibrant, and endlessly charming. He was deeply kind and endlessly entertaining, with a rare ability to make the rigors of a Jesuit education feel lighter. Carlos brought a touch of Hollywood magic into our everyday lives, whether he was booking major films and talent for the university, getting us onto studio backlots, or hosting private screenings at local cinemas. His energy lit up every room, and his great sense of humor kept us laughing, even during the most stressful moments. He thrilled and motivated us as we chased our dreams together in Southern California, always encouraging us to think bigger. That spirit never faded. Today, he is a devoted husband and father of two in the Dallas area, still inspiring those lucky enough to know him.
Carlos is now facing one of the hardest battles of his life. After being laid off earlier this year due to AI-related cuts, his health insurance is set to run out at the end of the year, right when he needs it most. The road to recovery is long, and the financial strain is real. This is where we can help. Any contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward easing the burden of medical expenses and giving Carlos the stability he needs to focus fully on healing. Your support is more than financial. It is a reminder that he is not alone, and that the community he inspired for so many years is standing with him now. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping Carlos continue his fight toward recovery.
