Hi everyone,

My name is Gladys Marcano, and I’m writing this with a heavy but hopeful heart on behalf of my husband, Carlos Marcano, and our family.

Recently, our lives were turned upside down by an unimaginable and devastating event. Carlos lost his left leg above the knee, a traumatic medical emergency that changed everything in an instant. What was supposed to be a joyful end-of-year season—planning to visit our families for the holidays—has instead become a time of survival, healing, and adjustment.

Carlos is not just my husband—he is the sole provider for our family, a hardworking master plumber, and a man who has always taken pride in supporting us through his skill, strength, and determination. Because of this injury, he is currently unable to work and will be out for the foreseeable future while undergoing therapies, recovery, and learning how to navigate life in a completely new way.

The financial strain has been overwhelming. Medical bills are already high and continue to grow. On top of that, our home will require accommodations to support Carlos’s mobility and independence. With no income coming in during his recovery, the upcoming months are going to be incredibly difficult for our family.

We also have two children, who have been deeply affected by this sudden trauma. Seeing their father—once so active, energetic, and full of life—go through this has been heartbreaking. We are doing everything we can to help them cope while staying strong for one another.

Carlos has always been an avid, energetic person who never slowed down, always working, always providing, always showing up. This life-altering injury has changed his lifestyle forever—but it has not changed his spirit. He is determined to heal, adapt, and rebuild, and we are committed to walking this journey with him every step of the way.
