Carla was recently diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Just two weeks ago, she underwent a double mastectomy and, in true Carla fashion, handled it like a warrior. Instead of slowing down, she went right back to work so that she wouldn't create any financeal strain. That's just who Carla is... tough as nails!
Through it all, Carla continues to face each day with her trademark positivity and humber. Next week she will undergo port placement and then start chemotherapy. Her treatment plan is intense: weekly chemo sessions for 3 months, followed by infusions every 3 weeks for 9 months. The side effects are expected to be tough, but Carlas is already preparing with courage and laughter.
She picked out a wig and tried on prosthetic bras, cracking jokes and laughing the entire time. I was luck enough to be with her for that and it was a reminder that her upbeat, spirited attitude shines even in the hardest moments. Nothing is going to get her down, but she still needs our help.
Please consider donating to help ease the financial burden of treatment, missed work and the extra costs incurred throughout her journey. Every contribution, big or small will make a difference and allow Carla to focus on healing and beating cancer. Thank you for all of your kindness and generosity.
