At the request of some of Carla's friends, Jennifer is starting this fundraiser for her sister, Carla, and Carla’s son, Kevin, after the sudden and heartbreaking death of Carla’s husband, BJ, on August 12th. That day was supposed to be a happy and meaningful family milestone, as Carla and BJ were moving their only son into college at the University of Central Florida. Carla and Kevin left first in one car, while BJ followed behind in another. Tragically, he never made it there. In a single moment, Kevin began his life away from home without his father, and Carla was left to face an unimaginable loss while returning home to an empty house.

BJ was the primary breadwinner for the family after a long career in IT, and his unexpected passing has left Carla facing overwhelming grief along with serious financial uncertainty. This fundraiser will help cover funeral and burial expenses so Carla can hold on to the limited savings she has left and have a little more peace of mind in the days ahead. It will also help ease the immediate strain as she navigates the very real possibility of losing her home because the mortgage is no longer affordable on her salary alone.
