My friend and co-worker just lost her husband unexpectedly. He was only 45 years old and passed while doing what he loved, kayaking with his best friends and his dog, Hoss. Anyone who has met Carla knows how generous she is. She is a friend to many and always the first to give her time to help others. She volunteers to drive veterans to medical appointments and serves as Sutton's Bay Animal Hospital's wellness ambassador to make sure we are all supported in our mental health at work.

She could use our help now. The unexpected loss of income (both Joe's and hers while she learns to navigate this life without him) will be difficult. She would never ask for help but I would like to give it to her just like she has given to those around her. Please give if Carla or Joe have touched your life or if you feel moved to do so.

It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I share the unexpected passing of my beloved husband Joseph Havens. His departure was sudden and has left an unimaginable void in our lives. As I process this tremendous loss, I wanted to personally inform you, as you have been an important part of our journey together.

He was not only a loving husband but also a good friend to so many. I know that his warmth, humor, and kindness touched each of you in unique ways. We will forever remember the moments we shared and the light he brought into our lives.

We are currently making arrangements and will share details regarding Celebration of Life and ways to honor his memory as soon as they are finalized. In the meantime, your thoughts, prayers, and support mean the world to me, my family, and his family during this difficult time.
